Opening Day: What to Expect

For many of our new families who may not be familiar with the league yet, we wanted to introduce you to Opening Day and the festivities around the event.

While games have already begun, Opening Day is our official start to the new season. We hold a ceremony at Serra Park in Sunnyvale on Saturday, March 14th. The ceremony will start promptly at 9:00am. We ask that all players arrive in full uniform at the park no later than 8:40am so that we may stage them for introductions.

Players and coaches will line up in the outfield on Serra Field 1 and will be introduced by team. We ask that parents congregate outside the field boundaries either behind the backstop, in the bleachers, down the foul lines or beyond the outfield fences.

Feel free to take lots of pictures. You can submit those to your team admin for possible inclusion in our annual yearbook at the end of the season.

After we introduce the teams, we'll have the National Anthem played by the Cherry Chase Band, then we will throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the season.

Opening Day is also a chance for us to thank all of those folks who help with the league. Our board members, umpires, city officials, sponsors and volunteers all play a role in making the season a reality. So we will take a moment to say THANK YOU!

We will also recognize our 2025 postseason teams that won championships last summer.

After that it's time to play baseball! We try to schedule every team to play on Opening Day, so some games will happen at Serra Park and some at De Anza Park.

We're still working on the logistics, but we hope to have fully stocked snack shacks open throughout the day. We will also have some Sunnyvale Little League swag for sale at Serra Park, along with the world famous Kona Shave Ice Truck (which will also serve as a fundraiser for the league).

The day is all about baseball, so grab a hamburger or hot dog and a cold drink from the snack shack and settle in for some great early season action on the baseball diamond!

Let's PLAY BALL!
