Post Season Participation Procedures

The Sunnyvale Little League Board of Directors has crafted the following Post Season Participation Procedures, which are effective beginning the Spring 2020 season. The post season (e.g. All Star season) is a completely separate season than the regular season, and an opportunity for a significantly higher level of competition against the All Star teams from other leagues. These procedures have been established to ensure that all players and families understand the significantly higher level of commitment required for participation in the post season. If you have questions regarding these procedures, please contact the league President or Player Agents.
  • Participation Procedures will be communicated to all players in the Juniors, Majors and Minors divisions with a baseball age 8 and up as part of our general registration information. Additionally, all registered players from these divisions and age ranges will be notified in February, after regular season teams are formed.
  • Participation Procedures will be communicated once again to all players eligible for All Star selection when player availability surveys are sent by the Player Agents in May.
  • The league will provide an All-Star Participation Agreement document to all players who wish to be considered for All-Star selection. This document will outline the specific requirements and commitments necessary to be part of the All Star program, including the player's commitment to participate on the All Star Team until the tournament ends for that specific team.
  • Any player who wishes to be considered for inclusion in All Star voting must have this document signed by a parent/guardian and returned to the Player Agent by the deadline specified by the league, in order to be included in SVLL’s All Star voting. A player who does not return a signed agreement by the deadline will be excluded from the All Star ballot.
  • As a general rule, all players selected to an All-Star Team must participate in all games and practices throughout the completion of the tournament for their respective team. 12/11/10 All Stars are eligible to advance to the District, Section, State, Regional and Little League World Series, which may run through the end of August. 11/10/9 and 10/9/8 All Stars are eligible to advance to the District, Section and State tournaments, which may run through the end of July.
  • Any player selected to an All-Star Team AND who does not meet his/her participation obligation may be subject to one or more of the following actions as prescribed by the Board of Directors:
    • The player may be ineligible for future All Star activities, including selection on subsequent All Star Teams
    • The player may be ineligible for participation in the regular season for the following season
    • Family members of the player may be ineligible for future All Star activities, including selection on future All-Star Teams and/or coaching.
  • Exemptions to a participation obligation may be granted by the SVLL Board of Directors if mitigating circumstances arise (e.g. player injury, bereavement, etc.). The parent/guardian shall submit a request for exemption in writing to the SVLL Board of Directors with a description of the circumstances which led to a player’s unfulfilled participation.
